In the Western Australian Curriculum, the Humanities and Social Sciences (HaSS) learning area comprises four subject areas:

- Geography
- Economics and Business
In an ever-changing world, that is becoming increasingly culturally diverse and dynamically interconnected, we at West Leeming Primary School, believe it is important that our students develop the skills and knowledge to participate as active and informed citizens in the 21st century.
We pride ourselves on harnessing the curiosity of students through inquiry processes; providing them with opportunities for questioning, critical thinking and collaboration. Within HaSS, students develop a deep understanding and respect for people places and culture. Students are explicitly taught key concepts and the fundamental skills to research, analyse, evaluate, communicate and reflect on their findings, to empower them to make valuable and positive contributions to society.
At West Leeming Primary School we work together to incorporate the inclusivity and respect of Indigenous Culture; adopting the methods of Teaching for Impact, with a focus on embedding Culturally Responsive Pedagogy.
We also acknowledge and celebrate significant days in the calendar year; namely, Harmony Day, ANZAC Day, NAIDOC Day and Remembrance Day.
